Trouble in the Bubbaverse

Racist tweets are the happening thing among South Carolina Republican bigwigs. This week’s was pretty straightforward:

I JUST HEARD THAT OBAMA IS GOING TO IMPOSE A 40% TAX ON ASPIRIN BECAUSE IT’S WHITE AND IT WORKS

That’s from Mike Green, a hardworking G.O.P. operative. Like his Party’s environmental policies, he is green in name only and emits noxious fumes. His apology, a two-tweeter, was straightforward, too, mostly:

I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR THE COMMENTS I MADE ON TWITTER YESTERDAY. I MADE A MISTAKE. I REALIZE THAT MY COMMENTS WERE HURTFUL, WRONG AND HAVE NO PLACE IN CIVIL DISCOURSE.

(“I made a mistake” is feeble, but let it pass.)
