An almost 40-year-old photograph of Aung San Suu Kyi has emerged at a fundraising event in London this week, peeling back the decades to a relatively uncomplicated time in her life, long before her years of dissent and house arrest in Rangoon.
The picture, issued in July 1972, was provided by her brother-in-law Anthony Aris to help raise money for Prospect Burma, which provides financial help for Burmese students to study abroad.
